What can I grow in it?
Anything you grow in the ground can be grown with better success in the Garden Patch™ – well except maybe a tree. Some of our customer’s favorites are tomatoes, herbs, cucumbers, salad ingredients, peppers, onions, carrots, corn and beans amongst others. With your order, you’ll receive a complete planting diagram that has suggestions for just about anything you’d want to grow.
How does it work?
On the bottom of the Garden Patch™, there is a 4-gallon water reservoir and on the top of the potting mix, there is a Nutrient Patch™ that serves as a fertilizer dispenser. As your plants drink water, the water reservoir replaces the water into the soil. As nutrients are used for growing, the fertilizer patch constantly replaces them. The Nutrient Patch™ has all the nutrients your plants will ever need, so you’ll never have to add any more. With this system, your plants are receiving the ideal amount of moisture and nutrition 24 hours a day – 7 days a week. Plants grow like crazy in this ideal environment.
Does it come with the dirt, fertilizer and plants?
The Garden Patch™ comes with everything you’ll need for your garden except potting mix and plants. The shipping expense to ship a heavy bag of soil would be too much. However, the instructions you receive with your order make recommendations for potting mix. Plant varieties found locally are best suited to your climate.
What kind of potting mix do I need?
Almost any brand of potting mix for containers or hanging plants will work. It should be light and spongy. Remember to get potting mix and not potting soil. Potting soil is very heavy and dense and will not work well. You can find the potting mix at K Mart, Walmart, Home Depot, Rickles, Scottys, home stores or any nursery many grocery stores also carry potting mix during the spring.

How long have you been selling the Garden Patch?
We have been working with and perfecting this system of growing since 1995 with a limited release in several different areas of the country. You may not have heard of the Garden Patch™ due to the way we only advertise directly to people we think may be interested.
Do you need an electrical hook-up?
Not at all. The Garden Patch™ has no moving parts or pumps that can break and cause expensive repairs. The Garden Patch™ system works via osmosis and diffusion so that all you need to do is keep it watered. You can use a hose, a watering can or even just an old milk jug for that.
What can I do about mosquitoes?
Unfortunately, mosquitoes can breed and lay eggs just about anywhere there is still water – even an overturned bottle cap provides a good nesting area. The good news is that mosquitoes can be easily controlled by placing a tablespoon of vegetable or olive oil in the water well every week. This will create a film over the water that prevents mosquito eggs from surviving and mature mosquitoes from breathing. It’s a great organic way to deal with prevention and great for edibles so you’re not worrying about what chemicals you’re eating. We also offer an all-season organic solution with our Mosquito Dunks which can be purchased right on this website.
Does the Garden Patch Grow Box™ contain any Bisphenol A (BPA)?
Bisphenol A (BPA) is used to make polycarbonate plastic and you’ll be glad to know that this material is NOT used to make your planters. The Garden Patch Grow Box™ is the safe and healthy way to garden. The Nutrient Patch™ and Tomato Trigger™ are made out of the same material (but thicker) as bread and frozen food bags.
What is Hi-Density or High-Density Gardening?
Hi-Density gardening is a concept that maximizes the productivity of vegetable growing using the least amount of space and effort. These “mini-gardens” usually fit on a patio or deck and are ideal for people who want to pick fresh salads and vegetables without a lot of work.
Give the plants what they want and they will grow.
Hydroponics wizards, square-foot gardeners, raised-bed folk and the new style of container vegetable gardeners figured this out years ago.
Plants thrive on water, nutrients, carbon dioxide and sunlight. How they get it really doesn’t matter and there’s no need to dig up the yard to provide for them. In fact, large open gardens are rather wasteful. Most of the water evaporates into the atmosphere and when it rains, a large percentage of the fertilizer is washed away from the plants. Plus there’s the work of controlling weeds.
Do you ship outside the United States?
The Garden Patch™ is only available in the US and it territories. We can ship to Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guam and Hawaii for an additional $7 each.
